Average teen sends 3,339 texts per month
I chose this article because I know for a fact teenager’s text a lot more than adults or younger people. Teenagers all around the world feel the need to text because it’s the cool thing to do in our society today. Why call someone? When you could throw them a text “ Hey meet me at Barb’s coffee shop at 1:00pm.” It’s easier and effort less. There is some people who can text extremely fast like no other and its unfortunate because later down the road our generation is going to have a lot of cases of arthritis and many people will have to get carpel tunnel. Data and app use are becoming more popular as we increase our interest in more high technology and what our cell phones can do.
According to Nielsen, people are going crazy with texting. Having a cell phone used to be for safety, then it progressed to texting every so often and now it’s becoming an everyday habit. With all the new styling phones you can get that allows you to go on the internet and go on Facebook or Twitter or any website you chose. It’s usually from ages 13-17 that’s it’s most popular because the older generation didn’t grow up to all this new technology so they aren’t sure of it so they either have to learn something new or not bother at all.
Apparently texting is faster; personally I disagree. Either calling or texting works. Some people don’t like to talk on the phone so they only text, that’s ridiculous because you have a cell phone for a reason. According to that statistics female’s text more than males. But in general data from teens texting has quadrupled. Do you think it will decrease within the next decade? Depends on what technology is ahead of us. What scientist will come up with, because everyone has to have the “new thing”. I don’t think there really is a limit; unless you cant afford to pay for your phone then there will be a problem.

Globally- (World) I think this article affects the world because people everywhere are doing it. Except for the poorer countries that cant afford for every teenager to have a cell phone.
National- (Canada) Canada has a big impact on new technology because we play a big part in it. All the young people have cell phones because they tell their parents it’s for safety when really they want it to be associated with their community and their friends around them.
Residential- (Alberta) Alberta is no different; we as a peace keeping country want it to stay that way. We want our society and nation to be safe and welcoming so we offer cell phones and high technology for people to be interested in.
Local- (Crossfield) Crossfield isn’t a big town, so I don’t see the point in even having to text someone because they could walk a block and find their friend. Though it’s nice to send someone a text and they could meet you somewhere etc…

Current Events- September 24, 2010

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/09/24/philippines-father-abuse-sentence-rape-daughter.html?ref=rss

In January 2001, a 13- year old girl was raped almost everyday by her father. When she was on her period or on holidays, he would make her preform oral sex. He would force also her to do sexual intercourse on a day to day basis. The teenager's mother was working in Hong Kong so she had no idea what was going on; the teenager lived in Los Banos with her father and two other siblings. The father was sentenced to 14, 400 years for raping his teenage daughter. She finally broke down when she was on vacation at a relatives with her family. Her mom then helped her file the case and put that disgusting man away for good.

I think if someone is that desperate that they have to have sex with their child, let alone a family member they should definitely be put away forever. I can't imagine how devastated the young girl was and that it will always be in her head that her daddy raped her. The mother then got custody of the 3 children and married a foreigner. A real man that would never even think about doing that to a child. There is many people out there that have been raped, a lot of which do not say anything to anyone because they don't anyone to know or they may be forced not to say anything because they may get hurt if they do. There is a lot of crazy people in the world, you never know when something is going to happen.

Jessica I commend you for choosing this controversial topic. I wished you would have discussed the issue of capital punishment that was a large part of this topic. Good work.

Crossfield Herald "The Radical Revolution" September 22, 2010

November 46, 1700, religious leaders who were in charge of the churches made up 1% of the total population. They were in control of 10% of the land of the French. The Nobility was made up of the second estate of the French society. During the 1700’s, most French kinds were almost constantly at war with others. The wars weren’t exactly always successful. They cost a lot of money and didn’t always turn out as planned. Louis XVI was almost bankrupt, until he attempted to raise money by making people pay more for taxes. Unfortunately, the Aristocrats denied Louis’s idea by completely blocking his plan. Each estate had a different perspective on each other; they always met then voted separately. 3 individuals were interviewed: Amely – 31 years of age from the Clergy, "Why is only the first estate in charge of the churches?" she replied"Because we are the religious leaders who make up 1 percent of the population. Were also in control of 10% of the land and receive a wonderful deal of wealth from the products and rent." she replied, I questioned her on her life; "how has your life changed since the French Revolution?" she replied"I don't make as much money on property taxes as I used to, and now more women have political rights so we can vote and be involved in the decisions in the world." her perception was common, as most of the Clergy's had a like opinions. "How was the lifestyle of the first estate?" She was asked, and replied with "We received money to make our lifestyles great as we were suppose to use the tithing money to go towards the church but we usually end up taking it for our everyday life."We also intervied Alfred – 28 years of age from the Nobility, "How did you feel to have a house that you have inherited?" he replied, "I feel good that I'm keeping the family tradition going and when I have a kid he/she will also inherit my lovely home. I feel great that I can sleep in a house that my grandparents and parents have lived in my whole life and a house I have also grown up in." "Why do you own 25% of the land in France? "Because we have different rights other than other people, we can do what we want to an extent and own a piece of property that we can do things on. We sell our land for money so we don't have to grow our own food or make our own things when we can just go buy it." "How did you feel about collecting money from your peasants?" "I like it because it makes me money so I can do the things I enjoy doing, but I also feel bad because my peasants don't have much money to do the things they want, but whatever that's not my problem." Last but not least Alexis – 34 years of age from the Commoners was intervied; "How does it feel to make up 97% of the population?" she replied, "It is a good feeling that we make up most of the population, but it's also not a good feeling because there are many other people that are in the same position that I am." "Why do you give the estate few rights and political power?" "Because I am in charge and will tell people they can't do something if I feel it's not right or not. My political power makes me feel good about myself and that I'm higher than many people and can do what I want without people stopping me. Yes, it seems like I'm a hypocrite but that doesn't really bother me because I'm in this position and others aren't." An; we asked her "How did it feel to make the members pay for land and tithing to the Church and leave them with little money for their families?" "There are two different feelings I get from this question. Yes money is good and it gets you things you need or want in life, but I do have to admit I feel bad for the families that have children and cant afford to get food. They work hard for the money they get and have to spend most of it on food to live. It's not fair, but it's the way things are."

Marijuana ice cream- September 21, 2010

Personally I think ice cream for patients that are prescribed marijuana is awesome and people who are allowed to legally eat it should be thankful. On a national level I think Alberta should have it because there are people who are sick all around the world not only in California. Marijuana is not a drug, it is a herb. It grows from the ground and can make people get better from sickness or help them relax. The world would be a happier place if every nation was allow to have these different flavors of ice cream. The price is low and the amount of doses are also good. Depending on what a dose is to the maker of "High scream". If the Government realized that clearly it has made people better he would think that it's not a bad thing. It doesn't make people go crazy like other "drugs", personally I just think it's a stereotype because it's nothing like other drugs that actually affect people. There are a lot of people who smoke weed or can even eat it. Some people have different perspectives on it and that may be their outlook on things, everyone has a different look on life and the things that come with it.
